I, Marcy Janet, am the General Manager here at Generals Ridge Golf Course. I started my career in golf here at Generals Ridge back in May of 2007 in the F&B area, working part time. Mid June, I transferred over to Prince William Golf Course, where they need more help and picked up some more hours. I started to build relationships with the guests and staff who were all willing to teach me the game of golf. No, I do not claim to know it all, however I do have more knowledge then I did the day I first walked into the shop. I have even bought my own set of clubs and played a number of rounds over the last few years. While I was at PWGC, I was promoted into the AGM position. With a lot of training and the proper tools, I was ready to move up and was offered the position of GM when it became available here.
Outside of working, I really enjoy spending time with my family. I have 3 beautiful daughters who are all teenagers. I have to say, I am lucky, my girls are good and I haven’t seen the horrible teenage girl drama that stereotypes most teen girls. My oldest is a senior in high school and has spent the better part of her life cheering. She will be graduating in June and going away to college in August to become an elementary aged school teacher. My middle daughter is a junior in high school and loves her animals. I always thought she would grow up and be a vet one day, but she is looking forward to going to school to also be a teacher in math. My youngest is in 8th grade, and knows she the baby and TRIES to use it to her advantage, which usually doesn’t work with me. She plays Lacrosse, which I enjoy going to her games as I have seen her grow over the years in this sport. She, like her sisters, also wants to become a teacher, but she would like to teach hearing impaired children when is older.
I have lived in NOVA for just about 30 years. Before moving here when I was in elementary school , I have lived in Texas, California, Maryland and Maine. I have family in NJ and we spend our summer vacations visiting with them and enjoying the beach in Wildwood, NJ. I have always said that when my girls have graduated and moved on, then I would love to move. I find the problem in picking where I will want to go, south to where my in-laws live or north to where my family is. I guess I still have some time to figure that out.
